We Have Our 7/30/10 "Goo Times Giveaway" Winners!
We wanted to kick off this "winning" post with a couple of responses to some comments:
Foundation Citizen, additional vegetarian sandwiches are something our C.O.O. Tony is hard at work on, as he is looking to add more vegetarian sandwiches to our menu. The Farmer's Market will become a permanent menu item. While we can't say that 50% of our sandwiches will be vegetarian we are definitely increasing our efforts to offer more vegetarian sandwiches, through more permanent menu items and our "What's New" items.

I think the Rio Grande should stay right where it is; on the border. If we moved it to Erik's all those thirsty desert cows would be extra thirsty. Thirsty desert cows will cause no end of trouble, and if they team up with the parched desert chickens...well, all heck will break loose. The Thai chicken wrap is where it's at, baby. I loved that wrap so much I made an imitation one at home the day after I had it for the first time. Then I went back to Erik’s and had another one. If we can put THAT on the permanent menu, we can deal a serious blow to the parched chicken faction and perhaps quell any cow-chicken alliance before they even get started! And, if you replace the chicken with a nice 1/4 lb. all-beef hot dog once in a while, where's the harm in that?

I have had this sandwich several times and it is SOOOOO good. However, the avocado falls out the other side because the bread is so thick. But I LOVE the bread that is used, so what do I do? Should I substitute another softer kind of bread, like the sourdough used on the REO Speedwagon, another one of my favorites? I have also tried it eating it like an open-faced sandwich, but it's not as good. I have to find a solution to this, so please, please don't take this sandwich off the menu! :-)
- Rachel, we will look into this and see re: any other bread alternatives, as we didn't realize this is a big issue with the sandwich. I'll ("Raging Bull") see what our District Managers and stores say regarding other types of bread and the issue with the avocado.

We would like to see Eriks Deli move to having about 50% of their sandwiches be vegetarian. Over the years, Eriks has had some amazing sandwiches, there are many, many options. Therefore, we are not in favor of adding another carnist style sandwich to the permanent menu.
As the only writer so far against it, I hope we are not disqualified from a possible free (veggie) sandwich!!
