We Have our Goo Times Giveaway Winners (1/12/10)!!!

Before we kick things off, we'll start the "countdown," with Arrested Development's ode to the "Final Countdown:" (and Raging Bull personally thanks all those who recognized the song!)

Thank you to everyone who posted a comment and are looking forward to 2010! We will list the winners after we answer some of comments (this is the Goo Times attempt to create anticipation...cue the drum roll!!!)

Ben: "I am looking forward to Erik's getting all their menu items on the nutritional items page" - Thank you for your patience on this. I assure you it is coming! We just ran into a couple of hiccups regarding the build out of the page (the ultimate goal is to create a "calorie counter," but our immediate goal is to provide up to the date nutritional information). We will be sure to make an announcement via the Goo Times, etc. once the page is up and running!

Who: "I'd love to see the Bay Shrimp wrap back, and maybe a couple more salad choices with shrimp or vegetarian options" - We've started to get the ball rolling on more vegetarian options. It looks like bay shrimp will be coming back. I can't report that the Bay Shrimp wrap specifically will be back in April, but look for the Bay Shrimp Louie Salad to return then (with wraps being possibly added to our permanent menu in the summer)

Rebekah: "I am looking forward to filming to FINALLY begin on the Arrested Development movie. No completed script as of yet..." - Completely off topic and has nothing to do with Erik's (though if I could get a picture of Gob eating an REO Speedwagon, I'd experience bliss), but I also saw this via a link from a friend on Facebook. I can't wait!

Adrienne: "i am looking forward to the holiday sandwich as a permanent item. i am a vegetarian so i order it with cheese in lieu of turkey on a sweet roll & it is a total foodgasm in my mouth. i am pretty sure i am salivating as i think of it now..." - I like the idea of exploring vegetarian options for our current sandwiches with character (along with adding more vegetarian options). I'm going to bring this up to the powers that be and get their thoughts.

Dawn: I would love to see a sandwich created with all of my favorites: Roast Beef, Turkey,Provolone,Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Sprouts,Pepperchinis, and lots of goo on 9-Grain Bread...(excuse me while I take a drool-break....) Ok, I'm back (LOL) Oh, and course I must name it: Erick's Supreme (this sandwich deserves the supreme name, it's got it all!) Try it and let me know what you think! - Will do! it does sound delicious...keep it in mind for our next sandwich with character contest!

Kristen: "We're looking forward to the 4th annual 48 Hour Film Project in San Jose! I'm also eating healthier this year's with Erik's help. Lots of Farmer's Market sandwiches! Yum!" - do you have any more details on the 48 Hour Film Project? This is the first I've heard of it, and I'm curious. Used to live in San Jose/Santa Clara area and really didn't do as much as I'd like (our French Picnic creator, Deborah Weber is involved in the San Jose Ballet, which I had no idea about while in San Jose, much to my chargin). Also, is there anything our San Jose Erik's can do to help out?

Cindy M: "I am looking forward to bicycling the Cinderella Classic. After I pedal the 65 miles, I'll have a Pilgrim's Progress and chocolate chip cookie!" - Anyway Erik's can help out with the Cinderella Classic? We did some stuff with the Tour of California when it went through Santa Cruz and it was a lot of fun.

Stella: "I'd like to look forward to seeing the holiday sandwich more often than during the holidays. How about 1 special day a month when it can be made available? Also, I would really love to go to Erik's more often, but my co-worker is vegan. If you introduced some no-dairy vegetarian options, I'd be able to visit you more often :)" - Vegan and vegetarian options are two of our most common requests, so we are looking to add more to our menu. There is a chance that we may put the Holiday Sandwich on the permanent menu. Unfortunately, logistics make it unlikely that we could make it a once a month special (though if it is not added to the permanent menu, we will still bring it back during the holidays).

Jarl: "I'm looking forward to an intravenous Erik's Goo feeding tube being installed in my brain." - One of my favorite comments, it makes me laugh and cringe (don't get me wrong, Erik's Goo is great, but the thought of having it pumped into your body seems...wrong! hahaha)

Ohrebekkah: "Have you changed the roll for the Raging Bull? Seems to have become more petite since the last time (which was eons ago)...or is it to conform to the portion size of the beef?? Nevertheless, I do love Erik's!!" - We did make a change from our previous roll and a number of other breads too in order to improve the freshness. I do agree that the onion roll has shrunk a bit in size, however, we in no way reduced our portion sizes. What I have noticed about the onion roll (I had a Raging Bull today) is that it is now more cruncher than the previous incarnation, so although the size has decreased, I like the improvement in quality (of course this may be my own opinion).

JFlo: "What would be cool, is if you sold t-shirts and each time you wore the shirt into your store, it would entitle wearer to a free soft drink. Free advertising after someone pays for the shirt. Good for you, good for the wearer, everyone wins. A sandwich shop in OKC does this and it is awesome!" - A GREAT idea! Look for us to implement this soon, you got me hooked on the idea. If we get this off the ground (and I believe we will) send an email the Goo Times way, and I'll get a couple of free sandwich cards out to you as a thank you for the idea.

Remi: "i love the mason jars for drinks and hope you keep them in 10'! Also your menu is amazing with your own customers zing onto your tastiness! trifecta - bread bowl, sandwich, salad, lets get a quadfecta going!" - The mason jars will remain! Although we are looking to change things up and continue to improve, rest assured we are very cognizant of our history and what makes an Erik's an Erik's.

Alright without further ado, your ten (10) free sandwich winners and $25.00 gift card winner. Please email the goo times: thegootimes@eriksdelicafe.com if you are a winner!

Thanks everyone! Till Next Time...

OFF TOPIC: as many of you are probably aware, Red Cross has set up a text donation system for those who would like to contribute to the Haiti relief effort. While this is non-Erik's related, the Goo Times still wanted to get the word out (it is a legit donation too, we looked into it). If you have a change, text "Haiti" to 90999 to donate $10.00 to the Red Cross. I did it today and it is very quick, simple and easy (you will get a follow up text asking you to respond "Yes" to confirm the donation). Thanks everyone!
