Twas a week before Christmas and all through the Deli, came noises and rumbles from my poor hungry belly! With $25. bucks for a gift card in pocket,I eyed that grand menu with eyes out of socket.

How would I choose, eyes out and mind spinning. I turned to the look and all behind me where grinning. So I quickly turned back and searched deep for my voice, and before I could change it , I spat out my choice...

One Pilgrims Progress with everything but cheese, and may I have some delicious clam chowder, please? Bottled water to wash it away, and finally a cookie for later today.

When my order was finished I dashed to the door, waving and shouting..."I'll be back for more!"

If I won the gift card... I would spend a good ten minutes looking over the menu and trying to pick a new sandwich to try. At the last minute, when asked what I would like... without thinking I'd reply "A Pilgrim's Progress". No matter how many times I've tried to order something new, I find myself ordering my old stand by : ) . I LOVE YOU PILGRIM'S PROGRESS!!!

For my free sandwich I would choose my very favorite, REO Speedwagon- no onions, lots of sprouts! Then I would use my gift card to buy my darling husband a chili because it is his absolute favorite! I would then save the rest of my gift card for a future trip to Erik's to get some yumminess!

I'm going to buy the gift card for myself! LOL! Hubby can help use it. The sandwich I'll pick when I buy the card is the REO Speedwagon - our fave.

And if I were allowed to vote for "Best comment," my vote would definitely go to: "Anonymous said...

Twas a week before Christmas and all through the Deli, …"

That's a great poem and really encompasses the Erik's experience. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all at Erik's!

I would definitely get the Chicken Pesto sandwich with my gift card! Either that, or a Sandwich with Character that I've never tried before, like the Natural High or Abbott's Habit!

Dang, now I'm hungry!

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Gift Cards for twenty-five bucks
And OH what luck!
A delicious REO Speedwagon that’s free-
All for little ol’ me!

I would be obliged to try and obtain a free hot dog. Failing that, I'd have to get my wife the Reuben. If the Reuben wasn't available, I imagine I'd go with the Marrakech Express. On the rare occasion the ME was not in stock, I'd settle for the Chicken Pesto. Now, if the store was out of fowl, the Turkey Walnut wouldn't be available either so the Del Monte Special would have it's day. Fowlless would also rule out the Pot Belly, Sweet Liberty, and the Speedwagon, so I'd have to put on my Abbott's Habit. Were there no religiosity allowed, I'd have to get a little Natural High. Last, and not least of all, after getting a little Naturally High, I'd gorge on a Raging Bull, which has the distinction of being the coolest sounding sandwich name since Jake LaMotta beat 'em up back in the good old days.

If I won a gift card....I would definitely get the sandwich I've been ordering from Erik's since 1983 - my husband and I used to date at Erik's Deli when taking a lunch break from work...the delicious avocado, sprouts and whole grains of the Pilgrim's Progress! I've loved it for 27 years!!! (Just had one last week, as a matter of fact!)
