A GOO TIMES GIVEAWAY: July 30, 2010 ("Try Our Rio Grande Club")

A GOO TIMES GIVEAWAY: July 30 (TRY OUR RIO GRANDE CLUB)

Good Morning Everyone! It's been awhile since our last Goo Times Giveaway, but we are back today and honoring the Rio Grande Club, a current favorite of Raging Bull (although the Thai Chicken Wrap is right up there too!)...

For this Goo Times Giveaway, we will be giving away a total of twelve (12) free sandwich cards!

As noted in during previous Giveaways, the first person to post (in response to the question below) after 1030am on 7/30/2010 will receive a Free Sandwich Card!

We will also be giving away one (1) "great comment" card!

The remaining ten (10) free sandwich cards will be given away via a drawing!

RIO GRANDE CLUB: to be eligible, please let us know if you think the Rio Grande Club should be on our permanent menu!

For example, I Raging Bull am willing to forsake my namesake, the "Raging Bull" for "The Rio Grande" if it is added to the permanent menu! My answer, is "YES!" (although the Thai Chicken Wrap is up there too!)

All comments received before 11:59pm on Sunday, August 1, 2010 will be eligible for the drawing.

Winner will be picked at random based on comments left below. Please check back in with the Goo Times next week to see if you are a winner!

If you are a winner, please email thegootimes@eriksdelicafe.com and we will get your free sandwich card out to you!

Thanks and Till Next Time...

I haven't had it yet but plan on trying it out today if at all possible. The Rio Grande Club sounds amazing, especially with the guac, so I would love to see it on the permanent menu, along with the Holiday Sandwich and the Meatball Sandwich, both of which are yummy in the tummy!

We would like to see Eriks Deli move to having about 50% of their sandwiches be vegetarian. Over the years, Eriks has had some amazing sandwiches, there are many, many options. Therefore, we are not in favor of adding another carnist style sandwich to the permanent menu.

As the only writer so far against it, I hope we are not disqualified from a possible free (veggie) sandwich!!

The Rio Grande Club is like a little vacation in a sandwich, who wouldn't want that to be permanent?

I think the Rio Grande should stay right where it is; on the border. If we moved it to Erik's all those thirsty desert cows would be extra thirsty. Thirsty desert cows will cause no end of trouble, and if they team up with the parched desert chickens...well, all heck will break loose. The Thai chicken wrap is where it's at, baby. I loved that wrap so much I made an imitation one at home the day after I had it for the first time. Then I went back to Erik’s and had another one. If we can put THAT on the permanent menu, we can deal a serious blow to the parched chicken faction and perhaps quell any cow-chicken alliance before they even get started! And, if you replace the chicken with a nice 1/4 lb. all-beef hot dog once in a while, where's the harm in that?

Well being from Texas, born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, I would definitely like to see Rio Grande Club added to the menu. Of course, I'd add some jalapenos too. I haven't had a chance to make into Erik's but I'm a fix'n to remedy that this weekend. Thanks for some great tasting sandwiches.

with it's turkey, bacon and peper jack cheese
Tomatoes, lettuce, guacamole....oooooo
Let's not forget the secret goo!

This sandwich is good and healthy at that,
but please keep in mind the bacon has fat!
though Rio Grande is fantastic to eat....
I say we save it for a special treat !

I'm an elderly (very) patron(ess) of Erik's in Santa Clara. I've never had a bad sandwich there - at the elderly discount, mind you - so I know in my heart the Rio Grande will be impossible to resist, and I shall give in to the temptation on my next visit.

I have had this sandwich several times and it is SOOOOO good. However, the avocado falls out the other side because the bread is so thick. But I LOVE the bread that is used, so what do I do? Should I substitute another softer kind of bread, like the sourdough used on the REO Speedwagon, another one of my favorites? I have also tried it eating it like an open-faced sandwich, but it's not as good. I have to find a solution to this, so please, please don't take this sandwich off the menu! :-)
